Summary of course

The use of chemicals in any workplace is often a risky business. Chemicals if not provided with correct safety measures can have ill health effects on workers or others, if they are exposed to high concentrations of substances or fumes. To help provide information DSM Ltd, provide a short course to provide the learner with information on how to understand the legislation, documentation and gain insight into the health effects on some workers through poor Chemical management. Subjects dealt with will include

It is intended that the learner will gain insight and understandings on how to:
Work within the safety regulations and understand the regulations for COSHH and REACH
How to understand the instructions provided within the Manufacturers instructions "MSDS"
How to read the COSHH risk assessment and understand why it there.
Gain insight into the types of health injuries which could result from direct contact with some chemicals and the chronic or acute effects that can result.
How to use, store and control exposure to some substances through use of specific respiratory equipment
How to consider occupational health into the COSHH controls and
how to write own risk assessments.

Learning tools

The course is dived into two distinct parts. One is theory, which deals with where, how and why issues and the second part, covers practicable sessions in control measures, risk assessment and explanations.

Conclusion of course:

On successfully completing both parts of the course, each successful learner will receive a course certificate, to record passing the course.
