Summary of course
This course can be used to learn new skills in fire prevention or to refresh previous fire training. The learner will receive instruction on the current Regulatory (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in line with regulation 19 and at the conclusion of the course, the learner will have gained a better understanding on the role & duties of the fire marshal. All course learners will undergo practicable use of 2 x fire extinguishers and complete a final question
and be provided with instruction on how to carry out routine fire checks. All learners must complete and pass a final written test paper to enable a final pass mark to be awarded..

1. Fire Safety Law
2. Explanation of Fire
3. Awareness of Fire spread and combustion process
4. Human behaviour in fire situations (To include persons with disabilities)
5. Fire Marshall Role
6. Fire Evacuation, and safe areas
7. Basic principles of Fire Risk Assessment
8. Fire Fighting Equipment & Systems
9. Fire Drills
10. Portable Fire Equipment Types & usage
11. Practicable discharge use of Portable Fire Equipment
Learning tools
To assist the learning, candidates will be exposed to a short lecture and video on fire equipment. Candidates will gain confidence in the safe use of portable fire equipment, through practicable usage. A short question paper will be used to demonstrate learning has taken place, which the learner must pass at 75%.
Conclusion of course:
On completion of the course candidates will be provided with certificates of attendance and a personal note book for reference.
All certificates are valid for 3 years from date of learning.
